No Coal

NO SWEPCO

Many of you may have heard on the news about the proposed coal fired plant in Hemsted County,AR. Please read the below information from James Burke. I am adding here my comments for you to read. Please send your comments to ADEQ at the below address by 4:30 tomorrow. This is something we can do to protect our future and our children's future.

Courtney's note to ADEQ:

I would like to express my opinion on the coal fired plant that SWEPCO plans to build in Hemsted County. Due to an increase in Carbon Dioxide, we have a real crisis now that we refer to as Climate Change or Global Warming. It is understandable that persons in need of work would be in favor of this plant in the short term. As they see an increase in haze, deterioration in wildlife habitat, and decrease in the health of citizens, that short term relief will turn to long term regret. Continuing to do the same things, such as, burning coal and other fossil fuels, will only lead to the same outcomes, more pollution and loss of quality of life for all living things. We must not continue to put a baindaid on a problem that requires a long term solution. The only solution to this problem is renewable, sustainable, clean energy.

Thank you for your consideration in this matter.

Sincerely,
Courtney Butler

From James:

Things we can do!

1. Go to your local Democratic headquarters or courthouse and pick up some voter registration forms. The deadline is Oct. 6th!!!! Then get everyone you can to fill one out. Help people fill them out if they need it. Hand deliver them to the courthouse yourself.

2. Call headquarters and offer to drive people. Especially in areas that are in the most financial need.

3. Pray. This country cannot continue down this path of destruction. We need new leadership, that will be responsible for the well being of all citizens.

Bumper Sticker Wisdom: "God Bless everyone, no exceptions."

Blessings,
Courtney
